Question
hi spoke to you a few times about my car you asked what idle speed was its approx 1500 rpm when first started from cold dropping to 900 rpm when warm  bernadette

Answer
Hi Bernadette -

First of all, thanks for the rating. I appreciate it.

Looks like your idle speed is normal. It seems like under load at slow speeds the engine dies. When you turn the steering wheel, it puts drag on the pump, which is run by the drive belts, which is powered by the engine. Does your vehicle have A/C? If so, does it stall when you turn the A/C on at a stop light or turning corners?

Next, have a competent mechanic check the power steering to see if it is putting extra drag on the engine. There could be some blockage in the steering rack and pinion system, or in the pump itself that is causing this issue.

A side question - When was your last tune up, and do you know what was replaced?
Should have been ignition wires, plugs, dist cap and rotor?

Thank you -
