Nissan Repair: Nissan 2000 - Idle Problem, air control valve, accelerator pedal

Question
Von,
I have a 2000 maxima SE, and was told by the dealership that I need a new IACV and a new ECM.  The car will start, and run fine as long as I keep my foot on the accelerator and RPMs above 1K.  First question, how do I tell if my car has traction control or not(so I know which ECM to get if I need to buy one)?  Where is the ECM located?  I saw another post that stated I could replace the IACV with having to perform the Idle relearn, is this true?  Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Answer
Kris,

The ECM is located under the dash behind the console.  On the drivers side pull the panel above and to the right of the accelerator pedal.  Cannot think the ECM could have died.  I have a 2000 Maxima SE and have never had problems with the ECM.  The idle air control valve is another story.  You should be able to remove yours and replace it with no programming necessary.  If the dealership wants to replace the ECM they should show you the data on the Consult II scan tool that shows why it needs to be replaced.
