Nissan Repair: 2002 Maxima w/ flashing CEL, obd ii, autozone

Question
Hi-
I own a 2002 Maxima. It was cutting out when I drove. Spitting raw fuel out the exhaust and wouldn't stay running. My injector as my dad suspected was stuck open and dumped fuel in the crank box. That was in Dec. So I had the following done at Midas:

Tune up-all plugs etc...oil change, one injector that was stuck open replaced...gasket covers replaced, a new battery. That was the first visit. $750.00! Car still hesitating with a terrible vibration. Was told all injectors needed replaced soon. A month or so later I took my car back to them for the other 5 injectors.

We are totaling close to $2000.00 now and I leave to have the hesitation still there a week later AND the engine light came back on. They told me it was something different and how much it would cost. In the owners manual it states that a flashing CEL meant that it was an(the) injector(s).

Is this the case? I am getting so frustrated and Midas asked me to bring it back to them to look BUT I AM NOT PAYING THEM NOT A CENT MORE. I am having the same problem I was having the first time I took it to them.

Thanks for your time!

Answer
Hi Tiffany -

There are literally hundreds of sensors that could cause the CEL to flash. A machine called an OBD II can be hooked up to the car's computer system, and download the code of the malfunction.

Do you have an AUTOZONE where you live? They usually check it for free. Otherwise any reputable mechanic will have that device.

Once the code is determined, then we can start from there.

Hope this helps -
