Nissan Repair: Problems with starter, nissan maxima, probe type

Question
hey, i have a 1999 Nissan Maxima and im having problem with starting my car.I thought it was the starter so i brought another one n that wasnt it, i also took it to a repair shop n they couldnt figure out what was wrong. So know emailing you tryna figure out what could it be because im tired of having to park on a hill and pushing it to get it to start.

Answer
Hi Rashon -

Could you give me more information on your car?

When you turn the key is there any sound coming from the starter at all?

Have you checked all your battery connections to ensure it is tight and clean?

What is the battery condition?

One way to check is to turn the headlights on. While the lights are on, try starting the car. if the lights suddenly turn off, or go dim, the battery is not good.

I would also check the ignition switch if all the above tests pass. To check you will need a probe type circuit tester with light. This switch is located behind the cylinder where you put your key in. need to check continuity when the key is turned at the starter where the small wire connects to the starter. This wire should have power only when the ignition is turned to start the car. If not, then the switch needs replacing.

Hope this helps -
