Nissan Repair: I35 - cooling system, leaking radiator, radiator cap

Question
Hi. I have a 2002 I35, bought used w/114k, now has 165k on the OD. I just replaced a leaking radiator, so I would like to ask if I should also replace the thermostat. Besides the radiator, there are no other cooling system problems. Is there a set mileage when this should be done? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Sean -

It is a good idea to replace the stat, as you do not know how old it is.

Cooling system flushes should be done on a regular basis, and depending on where you live and the driving conditions would dictate the frequency. I would say every 60K miles would be good. Flush system, replace hoses, thermostat, radiator cap and refill with coolant.

Hope this helps -
