Nissan Repair: NISSAN TERRANO II 2.7TD FUEL PUMP NOT RESPONDING TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL, nissan terrano ii, fuel flows

Question
Hi, my Nissan Terrano II 2.7TD (2002 model) was driven to a welder to repair broken front bumper bracket. After the welding the car would not start. I suspected the problem had to do with the welding job, but the welder insisted that he had removed battery terminals and earthed the car before welding.

Now the car will not pump fuel to the engine when accelerator pedal is pressed and will not start. However, the car starts (fuel flows) if the accelerator wire is manually operated or pulled at the engine/ bonet.

What could be the problem?

Thanks

Answer
Samuel,

I have not worked on your particular vehicle before.  But, if welding was done and you have a drive by wire throttle pedal it might have been blown, electrically, sure you have a throttle cable.  But, get under the dash and look at what the pedal actually actuates.  If there is a sensor on the pedal, under the dash that is probably the issue.  I say this since you say it works from under the hood but not when you push the pedal.
