Nissan Repair: sr20de+t idle problems, fuel pressure gauge, fuel pressure regulator

Question
my Nissan sunny GTS is boosted SR20 de+t i run the JWT 55 lb ECU a Cobra MAF (50lb) an MSD injectors (550cc) my car does not start up when cold without throttle assistance. now i see your answer to a previous question pointed to the fuel pressure regulator being blown so if i replace same throttling should improve?

Answer
Damian,

I would check the fuel pressure regulator by using a fuel pressure gauge and pull the vacuum line on the pressure regulator.  The pressure should go up by 10 or 15 pounds.  If it does the pressure regulator is fine.  The cold start circuit is probably the issue with the car.  If you have higher pressure injectors and such you need to adjust the car to run with them.  I would think there is too much fuel if anything and that is why you have to feather the gas upon startup.  Also, you could clean the idle air control valve and possibly do a little adjusting to get more air at start up.  Check with technosquare.com and see if they hav ea modified fuel map for the goodies you have added to your vehicle.  These guys are in Los Angeles and do mail order modifications (reflash) of computer.
