Nissan Repair: 2001 Frontier accessory circuit, nissan frontier crew cab, frontier crew cab

Question
Hi,

I need to determine the easiest way to connect an aftermarket accessory to the 12v accessory circuit.  I just want the accessory to have power when the truck is running and no power when the truck is turned off and I believe the accessory circuit would work fine for this.  However, I am not sure the best way to go about finding which wire this would be.  I have put together a home made adapter with a fuse holder.  Grounding won't be a problem but I need to figure how where/how to connect the source to the accessory circuit.  At the moment, my adapter's power source is just a single red wire stripped on the end and ready to be connected but obviously I can add a connector to it as needed.

I am fairly handy and have a few tools.  Have it all working except for this.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Rick,

Go to the fuse block and use a 12 volt test light to find an unused position that there is no fuse in.  Have someone turn the switch on and see which one turns off when the switch is off.  Second, you can get a fuse blade adapter that allows you to plug into this as it is a power bus, if you looked on the back side of the fuse panel you would see most switched are tied together as are the unswitched.  If you have a fuse as part of your adapter you have your accessory protected.  Get a good ground and use a star washer to get a good bite for the ground.
