Nissan Repair: Throttle body, mass airflow sensor, noel noel

Question
Dear VON,

While cleaning the engine in my 2000 AD wagon water got onto the air filter and now my vehicle won't start. What are the possible problems?

Thanks much,

Noel

Answer
Noel,

The mass airflow sensor is prone to water damage.  I would check the codes and see if the mass airflow sensor is throwing a code.  If the engine actually ingested water you will need to pull the plugs and turn the engine over to blow out the water.  But, from my experience the mass airflow sensor probably has been damaged, shorted by the water, and needs to be replaced.
