Nissan Repair: odometer stopped on J30, trip odometer, j30

Question
1995...is there a reset button? also the belts squeal when starting and they are new. thanks

Answer
Hi Mike -

Are you asking if there is a reset button to reset the (trip)odometer to zero? If the odometer does not work anymore, I would check the cable. there is a connection at the transmission. remove that and check the plastic gear inside. Sometimes the teeth break off, and it does not spin the cable anymore. If that is OK, then you must inspect the cable itself, but to remove the cable you have to remove the instrument panel and unsnap the cable housing from the back of the panel. Once that is done you can simply pull the cable out of the housing. When replacing, lubricate it with silicone or graphite based lubricant. Do not use WD40.

Belts squeal because they are too loose. Tighten them a little and you should be fine.

Hope this helps -
