Nissan Repair: 05 Nissan Fronteir w/ no heat at idle, oil pressure sensor problems, nissan fronteir, oil gauge

Question
Hi Calvin,
I saw your question re: an '05 Frontier, and am having the same problems with my own truck (no heat until 2000ish RPM, oil pressure reads high with key turned even if the engine's off).  I was wondering if you were able to repair those problems and what was causing them?

Answer
Hi Hillary -

On your heater - if you are getting heat only at a high idle (this is assuming the engine is warmed up already), then it is probably a bad heater valve. It is located in line along the heater hose, close to the firewall where it enters the car interior, and should have either a hose or wire connected to it.

The problem with your oil gauge could be either the sending unit or the gauge itself on the dashboard, which rarely fails. To test it, have someone assist you by finding the oil sending unit. This will be attached to the engine block, usually on the rear or side, with one or two wires connected to it. Remove the wires (unplug) and see if the readin is still high. If not, then replace the sending unit.

Hope this helps -
Aloha
