Nissan Repair: 2002 Nissan Sentra engine dies at stop light, air control valve, nissan sentra

Question
I have 2002 Nissan Sentra with 103K miles.  The engine turns off when the car comes to a stop, but then will restart.  This just began happening today.  Happened 5-6 times, but now does not happen.  Friend suggested it may be fuel pump?

Answer
Sharon,

The idle air control valve or the throttle stop dampner are the most common cause for the engine quitting when you come to a stop.  Have these checked.  The idle air control valve and throttle body could be cleaned to eliminate the problem as the first choice as this is just a cheap fix.  If the idle air control valve is worn out it could be replaced.  Have these checked and email me back with what you find.
