Nissan Repair: 2006 Xterra Transmission, throttle position sensor, obdii code

Question
My 2006 Xterra automatic transmission stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear for a short time, then the reverse gear does not work. At the same time Service Engine light comes on. It is for code P1772. After the engine turned off for 5 minutes, everything works fine again. It happened twice about 3 days apart. Also when I drive about 50 mph, the car vibrates like when I pass thru the groves on freeways that alert me to toll booth ahead. I just ease up on the gas pedal to make the vibration stop. A mechanic diagnosed my service engine code and told me I need to rebuild my trans for $1900. Please help. Do I need that kind of repair? My car is still driving good for now.

Answer
Martino,

The throttle body is screwed up on your car.  The OBDII code P1772 is calling the throttle position sensor and if yours is a drive by wire it is the whole throttle body.  If you still have a cable to the throttle then it is just the throttle position sensor.  Then get the code reset and you should be fine.  The computer is freaking out since it does not know where the throttle position is.
