Question
QUESTION: I have a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder...how do I remove the ignition switch ?

ANSWER: Lucy,

First, I would get a kit for replacement.  You need to remove the column cover and then you will need to remove the two bolts to get the ignition switch out.  Mucho bucks unless you can get a used column.  I like to purchase used columns and just replace it as a unit.  After you get the cover off you will see the two anti-tamper bolts (rivets).  You will not get them out very easy.

QUESTION: How do I remove the strter..notice it is under the oil filter...nice!!!  thanks

Answer
Lucy,

DIsconnect the battery first.  Then, remove the guard plate, the oil filter and the exhaust manifold heat shield as well as the front passenger side tire and the rubber splash guard from the fender. Now you can see inside a little bit from where the tire was. Disconnect the oil pressure indicator at the left of the oil filter.  Use a long flat edge screw driver to disengage the clip that holds the connection on the starter.  You can get to the nut from up top to remove the one cable off the starter now. The bottom nut is only connected to the starter. The last connector is removed by puching down on the clip.  Pull the starter free and reomve it.  Make note of the orientation of the old starter as it makes installation easier when lining up the bolts.
