Nissan Pathfinder: Yesterday I noticed dampness on the right side of the passenger footwell. The dampness has spread under the carpet.  There has been no rain, nor has the car been washed recently. The dampness dries out a bit, and increases while the car is being driven, even though the roads are dry. Any suggestions as to the likely cause please?

Hi Mike -

This is your heater core. There is a small radiator inside the ductwork of the A/C system that circulates water. When you turn your heater on, is channels the hot water through this core. To get to it, the duct work on the passenger side under dash has to be removed.

The quick fix is to disconnect the core at the hoses in the engine comp[artment, but I am assuming you need your heater, so it will have to be replaced.
