Nissan Repair: transmission, nissan sentra, torque converter

Question
will a 1.6 1997 nissan sentra engine that was attached to a standard transmission work if it is transferred to a different 1997 sentra with an automatic transmission?

Answer
Brad,

Yes, but be sure to remove the pilot bushing on the crank or it will interfere with the torque converter fitting properly.  Look at the back of the engine at the crankshaft and you will see a bearing in the middle.  It has to be removed to allow the automatic to fit.  Be sure to check over the old engine and the new engine to make sure all the connections fit.  Nissan and most cars have different connectors here and there.  Just make sure you save the old engine until you have the new one in and everything is connected.
