Nissan Repair: Speedometor, speedometer cable, nissan sunny

The speedometor has stopped working and no mileage recorded, the "Needle" is at zero all the time.Car running o.k otherwise. What has broken and what do i need to repair it.1993 Nissan Sunny 1.4 LX Petrol.

Sorry for the late response. My computer has been down the last couple days. Feel so lost!

Anyway, looks like your speedometer cable broke, or the gear drive at the trans connection broke.

The instrument panel needs to be removed to get to the cable. Once you access the connection to the instrument panel, then you can unsnap the speedometer cable housing, and get to the cable. Pull it out, and inspect the cable. Check the gear by removing the connection to the transmission and inspecting the plastic gear. Sometimes the teeth break. You should do the latter first, as it is easier to do.
