Nissan Repair: air fuel mixture ratio sensor, rich fuel mixture, air fuel mixture

Question
I have a 2006 frontier and i was told that if the o2 sensors were extended out of the exhaust stream with spark plug nonfoulers that i could get better mpg on fuel. This is after installing a hydrogen on demand system to supplement the fuel intake. What is your take on this?

Answer
Bruce,

The idea is to fool the oxygen sensors into thinking they are sensing a rich fuel mixture and not a lean one.  If the sensors are taken out of the exhaust stream with sparkplug non-foulers it would make them read lean and not rich.  This would hurt fuel economy.  If you were wanting to play with the fuel management there is a company out in Los Angeles called Technosquare and they have cracked tbhe Nissan code to allow modification of the fuel management system.  Also, there are piggyback units like those from AEM that pretty much do the same thing but they work by feeding the computer misinformation to get the desired result.
