Nissan Repair: Loss of power, fuel pressure regulator, nissan 4x4

Question
I have a 1990 Nissan 4X4 Truck with a 2.4 4cyl. It is idleing a little rough and when the motor gets up to about 2500 to 3000 RPM it boggs down and looses all power. It acts as if something is limiting it from going over that RPM range. It seems to be running ok until it gets to that point. I changed the fuel filter and the fuel pressure regulator seems to be working properly. I also changed all four spark plugs, wires, and distributor cap. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Brian,

Check to see if the converter is plugged up.  Also, check to verify that the distributor is not contaminated with oil on the optical pickup under the cover, which is under the rotor.  Email me back with what you find.  If fuel pressure is correct and it is falling on its face the coil could be heating up and failing too.
