Nissan Repair: nissan terrano 2.7td hesitence, nissan terrano 2, fuel pump relay

my 1997 nissan terrano 2.7td is hessitent at around 1500-2000 rpm after that perfect plenty of power and drives perfect on motorway,just at slow speed it seems jerky.also sometimes when been standing at a junction for a while it will stop and wont restart until it is locked and unlocked with the remote key fob this maybe a linked fault dont know can anyone help or had the same problem.i have had it plugged into a diagnostic machine but nothing shows up as the engine management light doesnt come on.thanks mark

It sounds like the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay to me.  Most of the basics other than the fuel injection is not really controlled by a computer.  So, I would go back to the basics first.  The first thing that comes to mind that can do what you say and reset when you restart would be the fuel pump or relay.
