Nissan Repair: 1986 King Cab - Manual window crank became very stiff!!, screw driver, king cab

Question
Greetings!

I have a 1986 Navara King Cab ute.

The drivers side window was recently left open overnight, now the window crank has grown much stiffer to wind up or down. I can feel the crank wearing itself down on the cog inside - no good! Could something just need re-greasing?

If so, perhaps somebody could advise how I might safely remove the window crank and get the door panelling off?

Many thanks - help would be appreciated!
Cameron.

Answer
Cameron,

To remove the door panel take the screws out of the handle and then remove the crank clip.  You can get a tool at the parts store for this.  It makes this part much easier than the use of a common screw driver.  Get a putty knife and slide it between the door panel and door and work from the bottom up and pop all the clips.  Some will snap and it is no big deal.  Just a get some from the parts store to put it back on.  The regulator is what you will want to replace and that will take a ten millimeter socket.  Get a helper to hold the glass up.  Put the door back together the reverse of removal.
