Nissan Repair: Hard Staring Maxima, intake air temp, crank sensor

Question
I have a 95 maxima with 177K that is experiencing hard starting.  The injectors are a year old, I replaced the coolant temp sensor, knocks sensor, crank sensor and cleaned the intake manifold.  The spark plugs have also been replaced.  I had the starter rebuilt at 120K.  I checked the fuel pressure at idle and then disconnecting the vacuum hose on the regulator and the pressures were with in range.  I also checked the resistance on the intake air temp sensor and that was also with in range.  The hard starting happens more frequently than not and it does not seem to matter is the engine is hot or is starting for the first time in the morning.  Additionally, the acceleration and pick-up is not there and under a constant light load ( acceleration) the RPMs fluctuate several hundred all the while the car is accelerating.   I Recently pulled the codes and they were: P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction, P0110 Intake Air Temp Cir Malfunction and P1335 Manufacturer Specific Powertrain Trouble code).

Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Chris

Answer
Chris,

The knock sensor and the air inlet temperature sensor are an easy replacement and that could cause the hard start.  That is the temperature sensor could cause a too lean condition on start and the knock sensor will cause the timing to retard violently and then snap back causing the tach to jump.  On the powertrain code it shows that the crank position sensor is not working properly.  If you have checked the distributor for oil on the optics then it is the other sensor.  but, I bet the distributor is bad.
