Nissan Repair: 99 Inifiniti I30 CV Bot, cv boot, nissan dealer

Question
I had the CV Boot replaced in Feb 2006 on my 99 Infiniti I30.  The car has about 87K miles.  It's now making a grumbling noise when I'm making a left turn.  Usually at slow speeds.  I'm guessing it's a bad axle joint?  I take it to a Nissan dealer for service.  Shoudn't they have noticed this in when they replaced the CV Boot?  I think they replaced both front boots during that service.  I know if was another $500 trip to the shop.  Thank you in advance.

Answer
Michael,

If the CV did not look damaged and the boot was only torn for a short time they would not have caught it.  And, after a time of driving wiht the new boot and new grease installed then you could have the noise you describe.  Isolate the side and have the driveshaft replaced with a rebuilt unit.  I know it sort of hard to do it twice but on the good side only one side has started to make noise so you are still money ahead.
