Sir,
I have Nissan Sunny 1.0 LX, 1986 model car with E10 type engine. Now I want to put 1300 cc Nissan engine. Would you please tell me, which type Nissan engine would fit on the same foundation. You kind advice would be apperciated.
Thanks.

Asif,

I need to know if yours is fuel injected?  I assume it is and therefore any engine that was of the same configuration would fit from close to the same year.  If it were me I would not worry about 300cc's of displacement.  I would go with the same engine and do some upgrades to get better fuel economy like a free flowing exhaust and a cold air intake along with an under drive pulley.  You could go as far as to upgrade the camshafts in the engine when you do the swap.

Sir,
Thank you very much for your usefull information. My 1000 cc Nissan engine is unfortunately not EFI, and thats why I wanna to replace this one. As you said, it can be upgraded with some modification, would you please tell me in detail how could I increase the power of this engine.
Once again thanks for your help.

Asif Ali,

I would go with an aftermarket header to replace the exhaust manifold and go with a Magnaflow muffler to reduce back pressure.

On the carburetor I would replace the air filter with a K&N to increase air flow.

Camshafts could be sourced from a performance shop on-line and I would go with a higher lift cam setup to increaase breathing efficiency.

If you have good gasoline (petrol) where you are you could shave the head to increase compression.  I would not do this if the gas is not of a higher octain rating.

These are the basics to getting more performance out of the engine.

sir,
Thanks a lot for your usefull information. After doing all these things, would you recommend Turbonater to be installed for better performance and fuel economy.

Asi Ali,

The turbonator will work to enhance fuel atomization so it would be a good addition.  Also, I did not mention that port matching of heads to intake and exhaust would also enhance horsepower and fuel economy.  That is, put the gasket on each surface and outline it and then grind the part to match the gasket opening and then the air will flow easier.  Do not go too far into the port as we only want the port to flow without a mismatch.

Sir,
I am not a automechanic, so it is difficult for me to understand the technical terms. I request you please explain the last answere in simple terms, in order understand your usefull ideas and put them in practical.
 Thanking you,
ASIF ALI.

Answer
Asif Ali,

The porting that I was talking about could be done with a die grinder.  You just use a new gasket as a template for the intake, exhaust and the manifolds.  You would port match them using the inner diameter of the gasket as a guide so the diameter of each port would be the same where the parts mate.  This would allow the air to flow easier.
