Nissan Repair: 95 Nissan Maxima has problems starting in warm weather, nissan maxima, time occurrence

Question
1995 Nissan Maxima has problems starting.  This isn't an every time occurrence.  When the car sits overnight it starts fine every time.  I've noticed the problem when the car has been running and then turned off for anywhere from 30min to several hours.  I've also noticed the problem occurs more frequently when the weather is warm and humid.  When I try and start the car it acts as if it isn't getting enough fuel to start (in my opinion - ignition switch turns fine but the engine doesn't seem to want to catch).  In order for the car to start I need to pump the gas pedal several times while turning the ignition switch for the engine to catch. Sometimes I pump the gas pedal 10-15 times before it starts.  Sometimes it takes 10-20sec before the car starts.  If the car takes 10-20 seconds to start I often need to give it a little gas otherwise it will die again.  I've had the battery and spark plugs changed recently.  I've taken it to a mechanic but we've never had a problem starting the car while there so he hasn't been able to diagnose the problem.

Answer
Andrew,

Change the fuel filter and then check the fuel pressure.  Check it when the car is cold and then when it is warm.  My bet would be a stuck injector or a dirty fuel filter making the car get too much gas.  The engine is flooding from the leaking injectors or the fuel pump is going out.  Check the pressure and email me back.
