Question
Could something in my car (i.e. wiring, brain, fuse, etc.) be killing the starter? The new starters work for about a week.

I have a 92 nissan sentra se-r 2.0 lt.I've replaced the starter 2 times. It is a 5 speed and am able to pop the clutch for start.I've tried bypassing the nuetral safety switch that didn't work. When I try to turn it over all the lights come on and I hear a clicking sound but the starter doesn't wind or anything and last time I had to change the starter I could hear it winding and knew the starter wasn't putting out. So I was thinking maybe there is someting else I can try. I just got the car and it has sat more than driven. When it does start it drives excellent and I really like the car any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Brandy

Brandy,

It is another defective starter.  I would go to NAPA or the like for a good rebuilt unit.

Answer
If the starter dies in a week we have issues with the rebuilder being bad or there might be something that is getting the starter really hot.  Does the starter run on after you start it?  If so that would cause it to overheat.  If the converter is really hot like melted it could overheat the starter.  But, on yours it would not be close enough for that.
