Nissan Repair: 1993 nissan maxima oil pressure shutoff is, oil pressure loss, nissan maxima

Question
is this car equipped with something like this or a fuel shutoff so as to protect the motor in case of oil pressure loss

Answer
Mike,

If you are asying that you attempt ot start the car and the gauge shows no oil pressure and there is no fuel pressure so the engine only turns over and does not start?  I know on Chevrolets they have this feature.  If you crank the engine and no oil pressure builds I would check the sending unit.  I do not know if Nissan does this.  But, you could check the sending unit by unplugging the wire from the sender and grounding it to the block quickly and have someone look at the gauge.  Have someone tell you if the gauge moves when the key is in the on mode.  If it does let off the ground quickly as you do not want to burn up the gauge.  If the needle moves replace the sender adn then try to start the car.  Also, with the key on you should get fuel pressure without turning the engine over.  If there is no pressure check the relay first and then the pump.
