Nissan Repair: nisson transmission will not shift to 2nd., gunk, transmission fluid

I have looked back thru 34 pages before I bothered you but ......no avail.....the auto is a 87 stanza that has been setup for several months...now it won't shift out of 1st.to 2nd....please help...byron

The transmission is sticking due to sitting.  it is probably the governor.  The following is a link that shows what it does.  You could try TransX in the transmission to see if it would free it up.  Basically, remove a quart of transmission fluid and replace it with a quart of TransX.  If this does not do the trick you are looking at tearing down the transmission down to glean out the gunk.
