Nissan Repair: 99 Maxima radio, maxima radio, nissan maxima

Question
I own a '99 Nissan Maxima GXE.  It has the combination Cassette/CD player  model no. CN528.  I think that one is a Clarion unit.  I think the BOSE unit no. is CN518.  The CD won't eject  anymore.  I got the CD out and it would go back in and play, but a little tough to get back out.  Now it stopped palying CD's period.  I can find used ones online, but I find that they are all just 1999's. Is this the only year that one was used?  Also, I find BOSE units for that year only.  Is the connector the same for the CN528 and the bose so I can interchange them,  or do different years for that body style have different connectors for the units.  I just want to go back with a factory cassette/CD and need to know what will work with my connection.  Thanks, Von.

Answer
Frank,

Throw the factory unit in the trash and get an aftermarket one.  If you do replace the unit with a factory one it will break again too.  No, the non-Bose and Bose are not interchangeable.  The Bose uses amps at each speaker and the non-Bose system uses one in the head unit.  Now, since you do not have Bose you should be able to change to a nice aftermarket unit for much less with more features that will last longer.
