Nissan Repair: ignition lock cylinder replacement, cylinder replacement, nissan pathfinder

Question
I have purchased a new lock cylinder to install, I need to know what the part is called that the cylinder bolts onto.  The part looks like a clamp that is attached to the steering column.  It appears to have wiring attached at the back of the clamp.  Can this part be purchased seperately, if so, what is it called? This is for a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder, 4-wheel, automatic

Answer
Glynnes,

The steering lock assembly is what the cylinder fits into.  Now, you can remove it by taking the theft pin out.  But, it is a pain to do.  The best bet and cheapest is to go to a wrecking yard and get a column to take the parts from.  Nissan wants over a hundred dollars for the part you need.  You can get a complete column for aobut $50.
