Question
alarm spontaneously goes off without any reason at all. or head lights and taillights were flashing. this happens regardless if the alarm is set or  not. what should I do. Is it the alarm or a short in the electrical system

Answer
Anthony,

If this is the Nissan factory alarm I would check all the switches on the doors and hood to see that none of them are defective or shorted out.  That should correct the problem since one of these switches is causing the alarm to go off.  If not then it is the body control module.  There was a service bulletin on this and if this is the case you are well out of warranty.  A body control module could be obtained used at a wrecking yard.  But, Nissan or someone with a Consult II scan tool will have to program the BCM and the keys.
