Nissan Repair: starter burning up, doug meade, volt ohm meter

Question
I replaced my stater two times.
my old starter did not burn up .
but the two new ones did
the old one seemed as though the silinoid was bad
my question is what could cause it to keep burning up? I can't seem to find a short anywhere. and when I replace the new starter it is fine for about two days. and then after I have been driveing for awhile and go to turn it off I here alot of noise like a buzzing noise and then comes the smoke.

Answer
Doug,

If the starters are good rebuilds and the starter is buzzing then the ignition switch is not cutting off all the way when you are turning the car off and the small current flow the solenoid is causing it to burn up.  When you turn the key off get under the car and get a volt/ohm meter and check what current is going to the starter.  If there is any current from the small wire then you have a problem with a stuck starter relay or a bad ignition switch and that is causing the problem.  If there is no current at the small wire, at the starter, then you have a bad starter.
