Nissan Repair: starter/battery, nissan 200sx, starter battery

Question
I have a '97 Nissan 200SX which would not start this morning and this has never happened before. The battery is a little over a year old, I had the alternator replaced in September and new spark plugs and an 'induction' done last month. It was sitting idle for 3 days but I tried starting last evening (for a few seconds) and it started right up. This monring it would not turn over thoug eventually I did get it to start. I'm taking it to Procare this afternoon and don't want to get 'hosed' if you know what I mean. Any ideas on where I should start in terms ofwhat to ask and what to tell them?  Thanks!

Answer
Peggy,

It sounds like the battery is draining and that could be a result of something being left on like an interior light or such.  If that is not the case have the people at Procare check the charging system to be sure that the alternator is putting out something close to 14 volts and that the battery is taking and holding a charge.  From what you say the rest is in order.  Now, if the charging system and battery check fine then I would be looking at the terminals to be sure the cables are good and lastly have them check the rebuilt starter you had installed.  This is the order I would have the car checked out.
