Nissan Repair: 2002 Maxima GLE engine noise, automatic machine gun, maxima gle

2002 Nisan Maxima GLE - I have a noise coming from the engine which sounds like something is spinning out, (almost sounds like an automatic machine gun)?  Anyway, doesn't do it all the time but usually more as the car is still running a little cold?  Also have a little hesitation when accelerating.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My bet is the machine gun noise is the motor mount at the back which is electronically controlled.  It dampens the front drive system so the steering wheel does not shake.  Not a problem if the wheel does not shake at an idle.  I would live with it.  On the hesitation I would perform a tuneup and change out the plugs, filter, PCV and clean the throttle body.
