Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 87 Buick Riv intermittent starting problem, buick riviera, little squirt

Question
Hi Pete it is Luanne again!! I checked the connections from the steering column and made sure they were tight and the car still does not start on its own. I have taken some parts off another car I have and put them on my riv to see if they were the culprits or not. I changed the coil pack and the MAF sensor and still no go. There is fuel at the test port but is there any way to judge if it is the correct pressure without a tester? Is there a way to test the TPS or the CPS in a simple manner? I wish you lived near me so I could bring my car to your shop!!Also...I don't know if this is bad for my engine or not but if I put a little squirt of starter fluid in that big tube where the MAF is the car fires up. I am really getting fed up with this but it is my only car and I am short on cash right now so I really , really appreciate your trying to help me out this way. Do you have anymore suggestions for me to try?

Question -
Hi again!!I have a 1987 buick riviera t type with the 3.8 litre 6 cylinder engine. My problem is that most of the time the car will not start. It cranks very strongly but does not fire up. I have changed the fuel filter , checked for spark and the fuel pump is working. When the car does start up it runs great with no sluggishness or skipping. It does not seem to matter whether the car is cold or hot. This problem just developed after repairing the steering column. This is getting very frustrating and any advice would be most appreciated. Thank You!
