Plymouth Repair: Dodge ram, dodge ram 1500, valve lifter

Question
I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 no modification , factory 4.7 v8  5speed 4wd with 72,000 miles ,an it ticks when I first start it up in the morning for about 30 sec, it's been doing that for about three years  I have had it for five years no problems at all , change the oil on a regular some times before it's time  . Is this something I should be concerned about , if so is there a fix for this  thank you

Answer
No, this is not a normal condition. The ticking noise could be coming from the valve lifter because all the oil that is supposed to stay in them has drained off. The only times that I have seen this is when the wrong oil is used and/or a low quality oil filter is installed. The fix would be to use a good quality oil of the proper weight, 5w-30 and a MOPAR oil filter.
