Pontiac Repair: Reduced eng pwr light, pontiac firebird, 3800 v6

Question
I have a 2000 pontiac firebird; i was driving and the reduced eng pwr light illuminated. This resulted in the car not being able to go more than 5-miles per hour regardless how much gas I gave it. The car was sent to the repair shop via AAA tow, my mechanics could not recreate the error and the car is running fine without any repairs neccessary. Do you know what might have caused this and is the error likely to resurface?

Answer
Hi Joel;

itr it happend once it's going to happen again.. Do you know what the fault code was for? that lamp usually comes on due to an issue with the throttle body assembly on the engien or the gas pedal inside the car. I'm going to say this has a 3800 V6 in it? if so that engien doesn't have a throttle body and it has an electronic controlled throttle and that fault puts the car in limp home mode.. NOT a good thing to have happen. If you know what the code was maybe I can point you in the right direction. Good luck :)
