Porsche Repair: Porsche 911 Carrera 1996 will not start, porsche 911 carrera, fuel injection system

Question
Hi Dave, I hope you can help me.
I recently bought a 911 (993) carrera 1996. Sometimes when I go to start it, it will not start.
Can it be one of the fuses? (If so, which one?. I don't have any maintenance documents for this car)
Can it be something to do with the stock alarm or remote?
Can it be the batterie?
This problem has become very bothersom, it starts, it doesn't start...
What should I check?
Thank for your interest

Answer
Hi Steve,

I'm not going to be your most authoritative source for the answer to this question.  The '80's 911's I can figure out, but I actually haven't been keeping pace with the newest models (I know, 1996 isn't new...).  Anyway, do this for me.  Tell me what you can about the car and your experiences:

Car:
-mileage?
-last tune-up?
-major work done?
-what do they call the fuel injection system, if you know?  Is it still Bosch?

Symptoms:
-It won't start, what will it do?  Crank but no start?  Deader than a doornail?
-How long after the no start will it start?
-Hot weather?  Cold weather?
-Hot engine?  Cold engine?

Thanks,

Dave
