RV Repair: Duo Therm RV Air Conditioner, rv air, duo therm

Question
Bill,

My Duo-Therm model 57915.303 RV air conditioner recently started cycling the compressor oddly. The compressor would run for approx. 5 seconds and blow cold air, then the compressor would kick off for approx. 2-3 minutes while blowing warm air. I had the unit recharged, but it acts the same.  Is this a run cap problem and if so which capacitor do I need to check?  Thanks for any help

Answer
Roger:
If there are two capacitors then one is a start and the other a run capacitor. If the run capacitor is bad the motor(compressor) will not run right. Capacitors are tricky to test, they bite! The best way to check is just to get a new one they are not expensive. Make sure you get they right voltage and rating. Always discharge the capacitor after you remove the wires by jumping across the two terminals with a screw driver. Good luck.
