RV Repair: Atwood EXALIBUR 8500-111 Series hydro flame Furnace-- year 1998, hydro flame furnace, mud daubers

Question
I'm having a problem with the furnace lighting.  I turn it on and I can hear the pilot light and than go out.  It will do this three times.  I had problem one other time when we had gone through a ice storm.

Answer
Douglas,
There are numerous things that could be causing this fault.  The DC voltage would be the first to check.  You want at least 10.5 volts at the furnace when the blower is on.  Incorrect LP gas pressure could be the fault but without a manometer you really can't check that.  The control board could be defective, as well as the wire to the electrode and the electrode itself.  Incorrect air to gas mixture is a possibility as well.  Take a light and shine in the exhaust pipe of the furnace and look for wasps or mud daubers making a new condo out of your furnace.  If you can pull the circuit board out, most shops have a fenwal board tester that they can test it with.  I hope this helps and good luck.
