RV Repair: Water damage, wet insulation, happy camping

Question
I have a 2-1/2-year-old Tahoe Lite 18DT trailer (Thor), just out of warranty.

I've discovered some water damage to the wood sub-floor and some wood frame elements at the front of my trailer beneath a  cargo area. Water saturated the insulation and  was prevented from draining by a mesh that covers the undercarriage.

Some of the subfloor under the storage area and some parts of the wood frame are rotted. I've cut the mesh cover and removed the wet insulation.

Is it dangerous? Is this a common problem? Have you any recommendations?

Answer
Dennis,
You need to find how the water got in and stop that as your first priority.  Depending on the severity of the damage you may want to attempt to replace the damaged wood.  If the floor is in danger of falling through you will definitely want to do something to fix it.  If the floor is okay you may want to add some framing underneath to support it.  It is fairly uncommon for a unit that new to have this problem.  If you bought it new you may want to take it to your dealer or contact Thor to see if they will still cover it.  I apologize for the delay in answering you, I was unexpectedly called out of town and have just returned.  I hope this helps, good luck and happy camping.
