RV Repair: Propane - adapter, propane appliances, propane tank

Question
Hi Ron,hope you can help. I'am new to the RV game and hope you can bare with me. I have an older RV and there is a hose that goes to the propane tank on the RV to a propane tank much like the standard BBQ tank (In case you run out)The new BBQ tanks have a Acme(?)and I can't get the old one filled. There don't seem to be an adapter that goes female PLO (?) to female Acme (?). I heard of the Extend-A-Stay kit,but I think thats what I have now, unless it's updated.Could you tell me what Iam asking for ? I used quotations on the fittings because I'am not sure.I would appreciate any advice.   Thank you, Larry

Answer
What you probably have is an extra hose for using outside grills, etc. with your RV.  You fill the RV tank at it's inlet, not by using the extra hose you have.  I would suggest, getting rid of the extra hose by capping it off.  If you are intent to keep it for using other propane appliances outside the RV, you can find the right fittings at an RV dealer or some place that sells outdoor grills like a hardware store.  In any event, have an RV shop look at what you have and give suggestions.  It sounds like you might have a dangerous situation on your hands if things are hooked up wrong.
