RV Repair: class C motorhome- refrigerator, class c motorhome, spark gap

Question
ON LP, when it is turned on LP, it light's from the ignitor, but goes out when the ignitor goes off. I cleaned the burner, and orvice. But it still does the same.
Any idea's ? ASAP, please; I am getting ready to leave on a trip.
Thanks Don

Answer
Don,

If the burner tube and orifice are clean then the only possible causes of failure are an incorrect spark gap (it should be 3/16" and a drill bit that size makes an excellent measuring tool), defective circuit board, defective electrode, defective electrode wire, or incorrect gas pressure.  I would first check the spark gap.  If that is okay then if you can watch while someone else turns it on look for any spark from the electrode wire between the board and the electrode.  If you see any you can put a piece of tape on the wire where it is occurring to possibly repair it temporarily.  Without a board tester or manometer to check the gas pressure the only things left you can check are the electrode itself and the continuity of the electrode wire.  For the electrode you will need an ohm meter to check to make sure it's not shorted to ground.  You can also check the electrode wire to make sure it doesn't read open.  If it has break in the wire the spark will jump it to try and light, but the sense circuit won't realize that it's lit.  If none of this works you will need to find a dealer to check the board and/or gas pressure.  I hope one of these gets it fixed for you, and enjoy your trip.
