RV Repair: RV Shower problem, napa valley ca, winnebago chieftain

Question
Hello,
We have a 1980 Winnebago Chieftain motor home. Upon last inspection I found that the shower does not work. Water is present and at pressure but it does not seem to travel up the hose to the hand held wand. I am pretty sure that the valve on the handheld wand is of a simple type and if it will move to either position it should be fine.

My question is:
Is there some sort of ball valve (or equivalent) in the mixing handle that allows water to run back down when you and finished bathing? Reason I ask is that when I turn on the mixing handle water run out from around the hose connection at the mixing handle but only a small amount of water is reaching the handheld wand.

Any advise on how to fix this or do we need to pull the power center and replace the entire mixing handle (separate hot and cold valves).

Thank you for your time and wisdom

Answer
Blain,

There should be a vacuum breaker on the faucet that the hose screws onto.  It's purpose is to let the water from the hose drain out when you turn off the faucet.  This is so it doesn't backflow and possibly contaminate the water supply.  You should be able to unscrew the shower head from the hose.  After you have it off try turning on the faucet and see if you get plenty of water that way.  If so then the head may be plugged or the shut-off valve may not be opening.  If not then I would say its either the vacuum breaker or the faucet itself.  I hope this helps.
