RV Repair: rotting in wood frame, framing material, truck camper


Question
I own a truck camper that has a a leaky hot watter tank. now that Ive fixed the tank, I have found that there is a great deal of rotting in the outer skin under the heater and the wood 2x has rotted completly for about 4 feet. Any advise for fixing this? The camper is an 94 elkhorn by fleetwood

      We just recently rebuilt an Elkhorn that had rotten framing around the area of the 2 front jacks and down the side under the water heater.  You will first need to remove the trim around the area of the damage so that you can remove the metal siding up to the point of damage.  Then its just a matter of removing the affected framing material and replacing it.  If the siding is damaged you will need to order some replacement from your local RV dealer.  This is a fairly involved repair, if you decide to tackle it good luck.
