Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman lawn tractor, craftsman lawn tractor, clutch pedal

I have model #917.274751  18.5HP 42"Mower and after starting the mower when I let out the clutch the engine dies out if I leave the clutch in and engaging the blade handle. I'm thinking it's the clutch safety switch but I don't know for sure where it is located or even if that is the problem. Thank you for your knowledge and help. Chuck

To find the clutch switch, follow the wires from the ignition switch to each safet switch.  The clutch switch can be located under the frame near the clutch pedal idler arm or in the transmission.  There is also a reverse module under the shifter arm.  Since you have a reverse module, it may serve as the clutch switch as well.


With the clutch pushed in, can you turn on the blades?
