Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): exmark waik behind, overrich kohler

Question
i am having trouble with the engine flooding, choking.it has a 19hr kohler, the mower will start evertime but it misses an if you put your  hand in front of muffler you can smell gas. put a new plug in but they file out really fast.please help with some ideals.

Answer
This may be caused by either a misadjusted or leaking float or a poor inlet needle seal.  It can also be a stopped up air filter or a choke that's not staying open.

Start by replacing the air filter if you haven't already and with the engine running, look down into the carburetor and verify that the choke is fully open.

After that, the carburetor will need to come apart and be rebuilt.  If you can try those things, or if you have any questions, let me know and we'll go from there.  Thanks, PK.
