Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): no start JD 430, john deere 430 garden tractor, engine seams

Hello, I have a 87 John Deere 430 garden tractor.  It has a Yanmar Diesel model 3TNA72UJ2.  It sat all winter and now won't start.  Last time it ran it seemed to have more black smoke than usual.

I put a new battery, air, and fuel filter in it.  Then I bled the fuel system as in manual.  A little fuel would come out when I cracked the injectors.  The engine seams like it has compression and fuel but will not fire?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
