Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Slow gasoline leak on a briggs and stratton, briggs and stratton, gasoline leak

Question
I have a slow gas leak on a B&S 11 hp (model 25217 type 515301 code 94071913) This motor is on a generator and rarely is used. I keep the gas turned off and run it dry but it seems to leak a the end of the carburetor by the welch cap. Is there a gasket behind this? I have never taken it apart and can't find a view online. Does this welch cap press in or screw in.  The thing leaks just enough to smell up the garage but not really drip on the floor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Answer
It sounds like gas is bypassing the inlet needle, this could be due to dirt in the inlet needle valve or a "heavy" float. Even though you turn off the fuel it sounds like some is still getting past the inlet seat.

Your missing a number in your model number.... please recheck and I will guide you to the manual.  IT should be something like 252717  etc

The welch Plug your refer to is pressed in, there is never really a need to remove it unless you are doing a major carb service.

Since its on a generator, your inlet needle and seat may simply need to be replaced...

No worries..
