Question
QUESTION: I have a husqavarna chainsaw model 359. It starts and
runs a while and then shuts off. I checked to make sure that it is still firing after it shuts off and t is
I have put carb kit in it.I have checked the compression when hot it is 120. I have changed the fuel filter. I have cleaned the screen in the
muffler. The carb is a hda-199a. Is there a problem with
this carb. I have run out of ideas can you please help.
thanks in advance Tim

ANSWER: Take a look in the muffler again and look at the piston for damage,
120 p.s.i. compression is a bit low.

The Husqvarnas have had a history of fuel line cracks in hard to see places, so look at every inch of line.  Check both those and let me know.

QUESTION: I have checked the gas line and piston, looks O:K. The compression cold is 130. Should I get a new piston ring.

Answer
I would remove the carb again, take off both covers, and diaphrams,
and also remove the needle/lever/spring, being careful not to lose the spring.
Once down to this point, hold the carb up to a light, and look through the hole the needle sat in, then blow out that hole
with air or carb spray. then look again, you need to visually verify that the passage is clear, also blow out other orifices as well, then reassemble, and see if that doesn't cure it.

Let me know if that helps.
